Welcome to a new and exciting school year at the Chinese

Language School of Southern California—also known as Westside

Chinese School! We are honored to have you as part of our

school community and excited to begin another year of learning

Chinese language, exploring cultural traditions, and celebrating

meaningful cultural events together.

 

At Westside Chinese School, we are deeply committed to fostering a

welcoming, inclusive, and respectful environment where every student

feels seen, valued, and safe. Our diverse community—encompassing students and families from many backgrounds—reflects the richness of cultures, languages, and experiences that strengthen our shared learning. We honor this diversity and strive to provide an educational experience that supports each child’s identity, academic success, and personal growth.

 

We also take seriously our responsibility to protect every child’s right to a safe, equitable, and high-quality education. Our dedicated teachers, parent volunteers, board members, administrative team, and staff work collaboratively to ensure students receive instruction that nurtures both language proficiency and strong character. In addition to academic excellence, we emphasize mutual respect, cultural understanding, and social-emotional learning.

 

Parent volunteers are a crucial component of our robust learning community. We warmly welcome every parent to contribute according to their interests, skills, and capacity. Your involvement, big or small, makes a meaningful difference in our students’ experience and strengthens our shared commitment to excellence.

 

As educators and caregivers, we are guided by a fundamental principle—children come first. Any policy that threatens their well-being, stability, or opportunity to thrive must be met with unwavering opposition. We stand in solidarity with Attorney General Rob Bonta and the coalition of states working to protect access to essential programs. We are proud that California continues to lead in safeguarding the rights and dignity of all children.

 

Investing in the health and education of every child is an investment in the strength and prosperity of our entire community. We firmly oppose any policy that penalizes children for circumstances beyond their control or creates barriers to their fundamental rights. We urge all policymakers to prioritize children’s needs and ensure every family has access to the resources necessary for their children’s success.

 

As we begin this school year, we warmly invite families to partner with us in building a vibrant, inclusive, and supportive community.
